The Gold Coast Mountain Bike Club ladies event returns bigger and better than ever in 2020.
Divas on the Dirt, a seriously fun, mini mountain bike festival for women of all abilities – from ladies wanting to give an event a go for the first time to experienced racers – it’s the event for everyone.
When: Saturday, 3rd October 2020
Where: Nerang Cycle Centre, Hope St, Nerang
It’s going to be an awesome event with lots to do and plenty of extras. All categories are $90 per person and your registration fee includes:
– XC Stage Race
– XCC Team Relay Race
– 16” Dual Slalom Elimination (optional)
– Lunch (and this will not be a sausage on some bread)
– Sponsor prizes, spot prizes, bubbles and lots more happening in the event village
There are four categories across both the XC Stage Race and the XC Short Course Relay.
For experienced riders and racers who love to push themselves.
For women that love a good event but aren’t too concerned about the results sheet.
Dip Your Toes Divas
A category for those ladies who want to take their MTB fun to a new level and give an event a go.
You’ve got a little extra assistance to get up the hills built into your bike.
There are two events on the day and your registration enters you into them both (well, kind of three if you include racing kids bikes in the grass!)
XC Stage Race
This format is both social and strenuous. You will set off into the trails with three hours to complete a set number of timed stages. These stages will encompass a wide mix of terrain and trails, some will be more descending, some will be more ascending while others will be a mix. All of them will be fun! In between each timed stage you will transition, at your leisure, to the next stage. Transition stages are not timed and you can ride them with your friends regardless of what category they are in.
The winners will be those with the lowest accumulated time across all stages.
All stages must be completed within the three hour window.
NB: This is an open face helmet race so no need to rush out and buy a full face helmet 🙂
XC Short Course Team Relay
This event is all about making friends and maxing your heart rate! Your team of four will be randomly generated from others in your category. This is your team and you ride for each other.
The course is a short, 600m loop that takes in a bit of criterium track, a bit of single track, a few obstacles and some flat-out grass sprinting.
Each rider will complete 3 laps and the first team across the finish line is the winner. There are no 2nd and 3rd places in this one!
16″ Dual Slalom
This event is for laughs and not compulsory. It goes like this…
Two riders at a time, Le Mans Start (google it!), down a little hill, around four slalom poles, drop the bike and jump through a hula hoop… pretty standard really!?!
Please note: Depending on numbers, we may select riders ‘out of a hat’ to compete in an elimination style competition as there just won’t be enough time to get through everyone. But best part is we think this will be just as fun to watch as it will be to compete.
Prizes and Giveaways
We are blessed to have so much support from local business, services and brands for Divas on the Dirt 2020. This means great prizes for podiums and an absolute truck load of swag to giveaway on the day. So you know what they say, you gotta be in it to win it!
